Wedding, reception, bridal, engagement, and family photography is our niche. We are all about making people look good and proud of their lasting images. Our continuing photo opportunities include anniversary, babies, baptism, religious, school, sports, banquet, celebration, charity and community fund raising events.
Our studio and on-location photography can include the latest photographic digital background technology. We can host you in an Italian Villa, Venetian Court Garden, French Vineyard... or, your choice of any pleasurable venue. This option is particularly desirable for romantic engagement and bridal portraits when the weather is problematic.
We are North Texas photographers in Carrollton, Texas, a suburb of the Dallas - Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex, fulfilling a local need for friendly, professional wedding, engagement and family related photography.
With over 20 years of commercial film experience, Charles Ames got his roots from Kodak's first 35mm camera in the early 1940s. Soon thereafter followed a darkroom and years of photographic experiences using the latest in cameras and film processing.
In 2001, when digital technology became a viable alternative to film with instant view of the captured photograph, Charles began the switch from film to digital. The first few years were frustrating with poor images and high equipment cost. But, as technology improved, digital quality and flexibility soon exceeded film. Now, Charles and Kathy use the latest Canon digital equipment for portraiture, candid and video images. Lighting is done with new "environmentally friendly" cool lights.
With the "instant view" brought by the digital age, Kathy Ames uses Canon professional equipment to capture her loves... brides, babies, family, grandkids, church, travel, nature, garden club and horticulture. It's rare to see Kathy out and about without a camera. Her motto is, "it is easier to show someone a picture than try to describe something, especially if it is a really good photo."
With the quality of the digital image, software technology has taken quantum leaps. Now bridal book publishing is highly creative, collage preparation takes advantage of the multiple images captured... not so easily possible with film, and the bride and groom have the option of early review and selection of portrait images. The wedding images are online for family and friends to purchase their favorites. Wedding portraiture is packaged in economical units to meet the budgets of the new bride and groom and their families.
Complimentary to wedding photography is pictorial church and organization directory publishing. With the digital age, both in image capture and final book printing, the cost of publishing is within the reach of small and medium size churches, schools, organizations and businesses. No longer does an organization have to wait three or more months to get "offset printed" directory books. And, folks in the directory get rapid turnaround on economically priced individual and family portraits that are superior in quality to years-past film.
